For more than five decades, the band has blended rich harmonies, masterful musicianship, and heartfelt songwriting to create a sound that helped define the country-rock movement.
Pure Prairie League first gained national recognition with their self-titled debut album, featuring the iconic Norman Rockwell–inspired cover introducing fans to their trademark cowboy character, “Sad Luke.” Their follow-up album Bustin’ Out became a multi-platinum success and produced the beloved Craig Fuller–penned hit “Amie,” a song that remains one of the most recognizable classics of the genre.
With albums like Two Lane Highway, a catalog spanning more than a dozen releases, and thousands of performances across the country, Pure Prairie League has built a lasting legacy. Along the way, the band has featured and collaborated with an impressive lineup of notable musicians, including Vince Gill, Gary Burr, the Goshorn Brothers, Curtis Wright, and many others, along with guest appearances from legendary artists such as Chet Atkins, Emmylou Harris, David Sanborn, Don Felder, and more.
Today’s lineup continues that tradition of excellence, featuring drummer Scott Thompson, bassist Jared Camic, keyboardist Randy Harper, guitarist and vocalist Jeff Zona, and pedal steel guitarist and saxophonist John Heinrich. Together they deliver the unmistakable Pure Prairie League sound — a blend of classic country storytelling and rock energy that continues to resonate with audiences today.
Now in their sixth decade, Pure Prairie League’s influence can still be heard in the work of artists such as Keith Urban, Nickel Creek, Wilco, and Counting Crows, among many others.
With the release of their newest album Back On Track, the band continues the journey they began in 1970, bringing timeless country-rock music to new generations of fans while honoring the legacy that made them one of the genre’s enduring names.
